Overview

Compy’s Taco & Grill, nestled in Grand Prairie along S State Hwy 161, is a vibrant spot that captures the essence of authentic Mexican flavors with a fresh and modern twist. This family-run restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere where guests can unwind, enjoying a blend of traditional and contemporary dishes crafted with care.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the tacos—particularly the Taco de Carne Asada and the Capricho de Al Pastor—both embodying bold marinated meats balanced by fresh onions and cilantro, served on soft tortillas that pay homage to South Texas street taco traditions. Their costras, featuring melted cheese tortillas loaded with seasoned meats like grilled steak, pollo, and barbacoa, add a creative layer of flavor, drawing in those looking for something unique yet familiar.

Beyond tacos, the menu extends to classic platillos such as flautas and enchiladas, along with crispy wings paired with fries, catering well to varied cravings. Desserts like churros with cajeta offer a sweet finish that complements the savory meal. The drink selection, which includes traditional Jarritos sodas, refreshing Topo Chico, and a range of mixed drinks and cold beers, rounds out the experience perfectly, making it an inviting place for casual evenings or group gatherings.

What sets Compy’s apart is not just the robust flavors or diverse menu but the genuine hospitality and lively yet relaxed ambiance reflecting their Texas-Mexican roots. Customers consistently praise the strong kick of their homemade red and green sauces and the attentive service that makes the dining experience memorable. Whether you’re a local craving authentic Mexican street fare or a visitor seeking a down-to-earth place with great food and friendly vibes, Compy’s Taco & Grill delivers with passion and authenticity.

Great vibes and food from a small family run place! The chips and salsa to start off remind me of the classic restaurant experience closer to the border. For drinks, they have a wide selection from jarritos to topo Chico. They have alcohol as well, in the form of mixed drinks and cold beer. The loaded baked potatoes were a great meal! You cant go wrong with the Papa asada with your choice of meat. I wasn't able to finish my portion it was that big. I'm going to have to come back and try their tacos next!

Delicious and authentic Mexican food. We tried the 20 tacos for $35 with every type of taco. Best was the Barbacoa and the Carne Asada. This reminded me of South Texas tacos . Music was perfect too.
